A very Happy Birthday to Christopher Priest, who celebrates his 72nd birthday, today!
What can we say about Christopher Priest that would be new? That he is an utterly extraordinary writer? That he effortlessly straddles the worlds of SF and literary fiction in a manner akin to Aldiss, Banks, Bradbury and Moorcock? That he was named as one of the twenty best young British writers by Granta magazine, or that he won the the James Tait Black Memorial Prize and the World Fantasy Award and the Arthur C. Clarke Award? That his wonderful novel, The Prestige, was turned into a hugely successful film by Christopher Nolan?
Well, yeah, we could. But you knew all that, didn’t you?
How about we just say, ‘Happy Birthday, Chris – may there be many more!’
