Set several years after RAINBOW BRIDGE, England is ruled by a foreign power. Heidi has been her parents’ carer for many years, but when her mother apparently murders her father she is sent to work as an Indentured Teen in a remote coastal village.

As she explores her new home and its mysteries, Heidi is convinced of her mother’s innocence, and is determined to prove it. What secrets does the village hold? Are the other teenagers friends or foes? What creature creeps through the attics at night, and what power do the Carron-Knowells hold over the rest of the village’s inhabitants?

This is the sixth book in Gwyneth Jones’ critically-acclaimed BOLD AS LOVE series.

Clifford Flush had not murdered anybody for years. But when he felt the urge to kill his bridge partner he was blackmailed into leaving London. He and his fellow Asterisk Club members, all of whom had been wrongfully acquitted of at least one murder, establish themselves as professional homicide consultants in the ugliest manor house in Dorset. After all, if they could commit the perfect murder why not share that knowledge with the world – for a handsome fee?

Flush conducts classes on Grips, Knots, Electricity, Court Etiquette and Alibis. Mrs Barratt teaches Anatomy and Forensic Medicine. Colonel Quincey specialises in Automobiles and Firearms. Everything is going just fine until a member of the 26th class has the effrontery to get himself murdered on the premises.

Stanley Huysman was a Nobel laureate whose visionary theories of his later years, bridging biology and physics, came to be labelled crackpot ideas. The true genius of these experiments became clear only when Huysman’s widow called on Drew Lancaster to write the scientist’s biography. As Drew deciphers the man’s notes, to crack the code of government-funded projects and the secrecy of Huysman’s unscrupulous assistant, it is revealed that the great man actually achieved what he set out to do. By genetic manipulation, he induced telepathy in his subjects. But Dohemy is now holding those subjects’ children prisoner, and it is only their extraordinary powers that can save them.
